PSN receives NZ Immigration Employer Accreditation

Health and disability and social services provider Presbyterian Support Northern (PSN) has received Employer Accreditation from New Zealand Immigration.

People and Culture Manager Mel Scott says it’s a huge win for the organisation.

“It means we can continue to support about 100 staff across the organisation with visa renewals and enquiries for the next 12 months. It streamlines the employment process for our staff, helps us retain staff who are on visas and also gives our staff more job security.

“On top of that, NZ Immigration Employer Accreditation enables us to recruit people from overseas if we need to.”

Mel says the last two years have been tough in terms of renewing visas due to COVID-19 when many people were without jobs.

“This made it harder to support people trying to renew their visas, not only for PSN, but the entire healthcare sector. The shortage of support workers and registered nurses in particular is due to the difficulty in renewing visas.

“Getting Employer Accreditation status will help put those days behind us.”

From 4 July 2022, all employers have to be accredited to support or employ people on work visas or employ people from overseas.
