Independent Trustee

Robyn joined the Board in October 2016 as an Independent Trustee.

Recently retired, Robyn has had over thirty years experience in the social services sector. From being one of NZ’s first Iwi social workers in the early 1990s under the auspices of the then DSW, Robyn’s career has incorporated practice in the statutory, health, education, NGO and Iwi/Maori sectors at front-line, management, leadership and Governance levels.

She was the inaugural Chair of the Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB), is a past-President of the Aotearoa NZ Association of Social Workers (ANZASW) and is an active member of the Kahui of the Tangata Whenua Association of Social Workers (TWSWA) who are currently negotiating a place on the International Federation of Social Workers for indigenous social workers, as of right.

Robyn’s professional interest in ethical practice has resulted in her being involved in the complaints processes of ANZASW, the Complaints and Disciplinary Tribunal of the SWRB. She is currently an independent panel member of the MSD Chief Executive’s Expert Advisory Group that reviews complaints about CYF.  Robyn was also on the Practice Reference Group advising the Expert Panel responsible to Minister Tolley on the modernisation of Child, Youth & Family, which resulted in the Report on Investing in New Zealand’s Children & their Families.

Prior to her retirement, Robyn was employed for five years by Family Works Northern as their Professional Practice Leader, responsible for supporting Service Managers with all issues relating to the professional practice of over 120 social workers and counsellors.
