Presented by Shelith Hansbro
Warden, Decatur Correctional Centre
With over 8 years’ experience as warden at the Illinois Department of Corrections, Shelith Hansbro’s passions include improving the prison system and quality of life for women in prisons. She has developed a number of innovative programmes, including the introduction of an initiative for mothers to keep their new-born children with them inside prison.
“…if there is going to be anything that keeps women from reoffending, it’s going to be their bonds with their children.”
